In the Spirit of Giving
December 12th, 2012
Gaia Herbs is a company with a cause. Actually, make that causes. A deep respect for people, plants and the Earth that we all depend on is at the core of our company. Our 250-acre certified organic farm allows us to grow over 90 medicinal herbs without the use of chemical fertilizers, pesticides or genetically modified seeds. Our organic commitment is in our roots since 1997 and certified by Oregon Tilth, one of the most stringent USDA organic certifiers in the nation.
Our employees are our family and Gaia Herbs is truly an equal opportunity employer; we believe every plant and every person should be allowed to thrive in a healthy environment. During the growing season all employees get a weekly share of fresh organic vegetables from the Gaia Farm. And we just received an industry leader award from the Marketing Association for Rehabilitation Centers for providing employment opportunities to local folks with disabilities. Currently Transylvania Vocational Services blends and packages three Gaia products and provides purchasing, set-up and delivery of our product packaging boxes. Up to 20 ADVP (Adult Development Vocational Program) clients work on Gaia products each day.
Respect for the plants and the people that help make our medicine doesn’t stop at our home in North Carolina. Just down the road, Gaia is working to help protect the Florida Everglades as part of the Glade-iator program and ripples as far as Vanuatu, where we source our ecologically harvested Kava Kava. The islanders are able to build schools and roads, in part, with proceeds from Gaia Herbs.
Some consider these initiatives as giving back… but to Gaia, it’s just the way it should be.
