Some jobs at the Gaia Farm are just plain fun. Vicente’s favorite is to ride on the back of the transplanter to establish the new herbs. And he likes Valerian best because of the way it smells when it’s dug up…and of course he sleeps really well after a day of harvesting Valerian!
When Vicente is not farming (or sleeping) at Gaia he likes to travel to the tourist destinations near his home in Hidalgo, Mexico. He and his friends work hard and play hard, traveling to waterfalls in search of “sweet water” or fresh water swimming areas frequented by tourists. These adventures include treks to Prismas balsatics, a natural wonder of hexagonal prism rocks curtained by 150-foot waterfalls. Hidalgo ranks second in Mexico for the number of thermal springs: they exist due to rivers of magma that flow under the surface.
Vicente’s the youngest of the farm crew at 21 years old. A bit of a thrill seeker, he also likes to ride bulls. Rodeoing is popular in his state in Mexico and according to Vincente they offer an opportunity to win the attention of a lady.
