Otherwise known as the “Man of 101 Uses” around the farm, Servando takes care of Gaia’s drying rooms, where the medicinal herbs are dried before processing, as well as the irrigation system. When he’s not fixing things Servando has been known to kick around a soccer ball during breaks, a game he’s loved since age seven. He’s quick to express his gratitude to Gaia for helping send his three children to school.
Back home in El Refugio, Mexico, Servando sings in a band named, “The Quattro Amigos”, that can be heard on the radio playing Cumbia, a traditional Columbian style of music. During the off-season he works as a brickmaker and spends time with elementary school-aged boy and girl, his teen daughter, and his beloved wife who he speaks of with admiration in his eyes.
Servando loves the majestic mountains of western North Carolina and says that he “feels like an eagle soaring” when up on the Blue Ridge Parkway. “Sometimes I feel like the happiest man in the world”, says Servando. His positive attitude and deep gratitude make him invaluable to Gaia Farm family.
