Gaia Herbs: Our Farm

Wellness Grows Here

We care for 270+ acres of Regenerative Organic Certified® land in North Carolina, growing over 5 million plants and 45 types of herbs each year.

Our Farm is a Living Laboratory where we grow, nurture and harvest premium herbal supplements.

WE SOURCE WHERE

Ingredients Grow Best

We believe in sourcing the herbs from where they grow best to ensure they are potent and true to the nature of the ingredient. What we don’t grow at the Gaia Herbs Farm, we source from farmers and wildcrafters around the world who maintain our same rigorous standards.

The Magic of Our Farm

We believe healthy ingredients begin with healthy soil. At the Gaia Herbs Farm, we steward the land through regenerative farming practices that support mineral-rich soil and the growth of potent plants for our herbal supplements.

Each herb is tested for potency in the field, carefully harvested, and brought to our onsite production facility to be extracted and crafted into our herbal formulas. From seed to soil to supplement, we oversee every step to create the highest-quality herbal supplements.

Regenerative Organic Certified®

In 2022, Gaia Herbs Farm earned Regenerative Organic Certified (ROC)® silver-level status from the Regenerative Organic Alliance®, a milestone that reflects our commitment to regenerative agriculture and its vital role in supporting biodiversity, protecting the health of the planet, and enhancing human well-being. This journey began in 2021, when we set out to go beyond traditional organic standards by meeting the rigorous ROC® requirements, which emphasize not only soil health but also fair treatment and well-being of farmworkers.

Looking ahead, we remain committed to continuous improvement and have our sights set on achieving gold-level certification, further demonstrating our dedication to regenerative organic agriculture and its positive impact on both people and the planet.

"With regenerative organic agriculture, we can rehabilitate soil, respect animal welfare, and improve the lives of farmers. We can sequester carbon, build healthier communities, and reap more nutritious and abundant yields."

Gaia Herbs Farmworkers

Committed to our Farm Crew

Each year, through the H2A visa program, we employ approximately 30 farmworkers who make the journey from San Luis Potosi, Mexico, to spend the growing and harvesting season on our Farm. Most of our Farm Crew returns every year, including a few who have been with us for more than 20 years.

In 2021, we enhanced our commitment to farm worker fairness by focusing on four key impact areas: travel and lodging to and from Mexico, wages and benefits, health and wellness advocacy, and on-site housing.

In 2024, we furthered our commitment to our Farm Crew by opening on-site Farm Crew Housing. This initiative guarantees our Farm Crew safe, comfortable housing while they are at the Gaia Herbs Farm. It provides a space for them to rest, participate in recreation, and connect with each other as a community. Our Farm Crew Housing is one example of how we continuously work to support our mission of serving as a model farm in migrant farmworker treatment.

More Than Herbal Supplements

The Gaia Herbs Farm grows more than the herbs found in our herbal supplements, with six acres of organic farmland dedicated to fruits and vegetables that sustain our Employee Vegetable Program. During the growing season, thousands of pounds of organic produce are grown for employees to take home and enjoy, with any remaining harvest donated to local food banks and shelters.

The Farm also features a dedicated pollinator garden filled with native plants that support a biodiverse ecosystem and the pollinator population that keeps the Farm thriving, with the honey they produce shared with employees throughout the year.
