What does International Women’s Day mean to you?

International Women’s Day for me is a celebration of all the badass women around the world; a celebration of women from the past, present, and future; a celebration of our strength, our passion, our love, our humanity, our resilience, and our fight.

What do you love about working for Gaia Herbs?

I love that Gaia ‘walks the talk’ – our mission is connecting people, plants, & planet to create healing, and every decision we make (big or small) honors that mission. We’re changing the world one herb at a time.

What progress have you seen in gender equality in your life and work?

In the 10 years I have been managing Human Resources, I have watched the pay gap between men and women close in. I am also proud to report that women are taking salary negotiations into their own hands and standing their ground when it comes to what they are worth in their field and what conditions they expect in a new position.

What women inspire you most in your life?

Women who find a successful and healthy balance between advancing in their careers and being 100% present with their families, especially moms.

What progress have you seen in gender equality in your life and work?

I think every generation makes things just a bit better for the next, and it’s important for everyone (regardless of their gender identity) to support the advancement of gender equality.

As a female Marine, I was able to have career experiences women even a generation before could never have dreamed of! As a mother, I am afforded the opportunity to have a successful career alongside a successful family – and I’m proud to work hard to make it even better for my daughters!

What’s your International Women’s Day message to other women?

What does International Women’s Day mean to you?

International Women’s Day is deeply personal to me. Growing up, I watched my mom do it all. She worked full-time and raised 3 kids by herself, and always harped on the importance of independence.

Now that I’m older, I see all these amazing women in my life who are doing the same. Balancing motherhood, work, and their personal lives, all while making things happen and putting other people first.

It’s so powerful, and if we can all take one day to pause and celebrate all that women do for us and make the commitment to continue doing the work to create a world that’s equal for all, I think we’re heading in the right direction.

What progress have you seen in gender equality in your life and work?

Growing up, I always thought of farmers being male. But in the past 10 or so years there has been an influx of women entering this career, which is great! Historically, women have been herbalists and garden nurturers, so it’s really cool to see things come back around.

What are your favorite Gaia Herbs?

I love the Everyday Adaptogen powder — I put it in my smoothies which supports me throughout my day. Also, the Quick Defense (I feel) has saved me many times.
