    WHAT IS IT?

    The Latin name Agnus castus means “chaste lamb” in reference to the early belief that it reduced sexual desire (it does not). The primary use of this botanical has long occurred throughout Europe with traditional use for a variety of female hormone and gynecological conditions.



    WHAT IS IT USED FOR?

    Vitex is traditionally used to support hormonal balance by influencing the pituitary gland, which helps regulate levels of luteinizing hormone (LH) and prolactin. It may help maintain a regular menstrual cycle, ease occasional PMS symptoms, and support hormonal health during menopause. Additionally, some studies suggest that Vitex may assist in promoting reproductive health by supporting menstrual regularity.

    Organic Chaste Tree (Vitex agnus-castus) berry extract, Agnuside, vegetable glycerin, water and vegan capsule (hypromellose).

    I rarely write reviews

    I’m struggling with perimenopause and was desperate looking for natural ways to relieve symptoms. I was having horrible breast pain three weeks out of a month due to hormone fluctuations . I’ve been taking Vitex Berry for a few weeks now and so far no breast pain. I’m grateful to have found relief and will continue taking.

    Still early into using but liking it

    Found Gaia's Vitex Berry via a recommendation of a trusted friend. I've only been taking for about a month, but my cycle came after being delayed a few months and my PCOS symptoms have felt some ease. Hoping it will continue to help my cycle regulate and stabilize

Your Questions, Answered

Are your products Organic?

Gaia Herbs purchases Certified Organic ingredients when possible. If not Certified Organic, they are Ecologically Harvested. Ecologically Harvested herbs include herbs that are harvested in their natural habitat, (i.e., wild harvested) according to specific guidelines for harvesting these herbs (i.e., away from roads and industry, as well as guidelines to avoid overharvesting).

All Ecologically Harvested herbs must pass pesticide, heavy metals, and microbial testing prior to being used in our products.

Do you test for pesticides?

Yes. Gaia tests for purity using an analytical method called Gas Chromatography-Tandem Mass Spectrometry, or GC-MSMS. This testing is used in our extensive pesticide testing program when testing our raw herbs.

What is your policy on GMOs?

Gaia Herbs is committed to using and supporting only non-GMO materials. Gaia does not purchase GMO herbs and/or ingredients. We do a purchasing review to ensure we eliminate the possibility of hidden GMOs making their way into our products.

All herbs propagated and grown on Gaia Farm are Certified Organic and therefore are GMO-free. Our seeds, whether sourced from our farm or a trusted supplier, are also GMO-free. We will always do everything possible to ensure that our products are non-GMO.

Do you test for Heavy Metals?

Yes. Gaia Herbs uses ICP-MS to test for arsenic, mercury, cadmium and lead. ICP-MS stands for Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometry. This instrument is the centerpiece of Gaia’s heavy metals testing. This powerful technique is capable of observing a wide range of metal at quantities as low as a nanogram of metal in a gram sample. The ICP-MS allows Gaia to obtain precise and sensitive data for all materials in a high speed manner. The plasma vaporizes the sample and ultimately breaks it down to the atomic level. The mass spectrometer is then able to detect all atoms of interest.
